Using Humor to Spread Happiness and Hope

What are Kiwanis Klowns???

First, let me introduce you to Kiwanis International, a volunteer service organization whose priorities are the spiritual and emotional well-being of the world’s children.  Of course, we perform service projects that benefit everyone in our local communities and world wide.

Our Kiwanis club, located in Lakewood, New Jersey, was looking for a fun and effective service project that would work into our schedule and budget.  We saw a news segment on the Clown Care Unit of the Big Apple Circus, and decided to don red noses and make people smile.  Little did we know how big the Kiwanis Klowns would become.

We (Dr. KiKi and Dr. Saw Bonz) are the original Kiwanis Klowns, and first appeared in public at the 2nd Annual Walkathon for Autism Awareness in Pine Park, Lakewood.  Since then, we have worked with numerous community organizations and train other Kiwanis Klowns to perform more services.

Dr. KiKi is also a permanent “doctor” at Children’s Specialized Hospital in Toms River, NJ.  There, she is in charge of “funny bone health and red nose replacement” and does her “rounds” twice a month.

The Kiwanis Klowns are available for fund raisers and other community events for donations to the Kiwanis Club of Lakewood.  Proceeds from our various events are used for scholarships and programs benefiting the children of the community and world.
